Speaker 1 00:00:09 Welcome to Lessons From The Helpful Dead, where you'll learn the world is not what it seems, and you are much more than you think you are. Here. You'll learn about positive and reassuring messages from supposedly dead people whose main purpose is to help us find out what happens after we die, why we're here, how we got here, where we're going, and discover that you are really a powerful, eternal spirit. I'm Dan McInerney. In today's session we'll talk briefly about two ordinary people who developed special abilities while attending the Monroe Institute. First, we'll talk about Meredith Young Sowers. You might remember I mentioned that the weeklong introductory program at the Monroe Institute, uh, is called the Gateway Program. I've taken it myself and no many others who have curiously. When Meredith Young Sowers attended Gateway many years ago, it was her husband who was most interested and she came along as I said, more out of curiosity than a burning desire to have an out-of-body experience.
Speaker 1 00:01:18 But as it turns out, it was she who developed exceptional abilities. In working with her consciousness, she eventually began to channel a spiritual teacher named mentor, M E N T O R, uh, and making good use of the instruction he provided. She developed several unusual abilities. She became a healer and medical empathic, able to understand and sense or see within a person's physical and emotional energy bodies to understand what lies behind physical and emotional disease or imbalance. She moved to WaPo New Hampshire, where she founded the Still Point Institute to continue the work and research to help people find a more lasting connection to their own divine selves. She also developed the ability to communicate with the spirit of plants and became highly intuitive, adding to her skills as a personal counselor. Her first major book, a Gartha, is the story of her journey from the gateway to the point where she developed and used her abilities over the le over the years.
Speaker 1 00:02:32 Rather, she has become an internationally acclaimed spiritual teacher, intuitive healer, counselor, and author. She's published six books, two of which have become best selling classics, and she lectures, leads, workshops and offers tele classes all over the world where she brings her special gracious blend of warmth, wisdom, intimacy, and insight and encouragement to her students. In her teachings and writings, she draws on the spiritual lessons found in the ordinary experiences of daily life and shares her ability to see the miraculous and the mundane students in her classes say that she empowers them to overcome some difficult challenges in their lives. Now, another individual who developed, uh, uh, exceptional abilities, even though he was, uh, at the start, just an ordinary person, is someone will call Mark. Now, mark wishes to remain anonymous and his real name is not Mark. He's the author of an excellent work of fiction.
Speaker 1 00:03:39 He was once active in politics, he was a programmer, and he has spent a good deal of his life in journalism. I knew Mark and I was privileged to read the manuscript for his second book, uh, an intriguing and detailed account of how he developed his abilities at the Monroe programs and subsequently used them. Mark has been able to help a number of people by making past life connections clear to them, and he's developed some healing abilities. He's also done retrieval work as Bruce Moen has done. That's the, uh, soul rescue work. Now. Mark, uh, also developed the ability to communicate regularly with what he called the the Gentleman upstairs or t g U. Uh, these were entities who provided him guidance and insights on a number of things and not the least of which was the writing of the book. I just mentioned. An example, uh, that I personally witnessed.
Speaker 1 00:04:43 An example of his abilities was his ability to tell Bruce Moen an engineer how to correct a highly technical problem on a machine that combined three technologies. Now, in his normal conscious mode, mark knows nothing of such things, but he was able to contact D G U T G U, the gentleman upstairs and get the solution to the problem quickly. Now spiced with interesting anecdotes about his own life, Mark's account of the development of his bill abilities in his book is very easy to relate to his intent in writing. The book is to let others know, and this is important. His intent is to let others know that they too can develop all the abilities he has. In doing so. He also leads us to understand that the world indeed is not what it seems and that we are all more than we think we are.
Speaker 1 00:05:39 His way of telling his story is ideal for that purpose. His tone is conversational and down to earth. He also describes in depth what it's like to experience the Gateway program, uh, as did, uh, Bruce and Meredith in their books. Now, mark is just one of several ordinary people who decided they wanted to develop skills that indicate we are indeed much more than we think we are, and that the world isn't what it seems. They are particularly important because they are living evidence that we can all develop these skills. Whereas Bob Monroe and some of the better known psychics, if they were the only ones who would develop these powers, they might be considered an anomaly that comes along every so often, not easily duplicated. People like Mark and Meredith on the other hand, demonstrate that that just isn't so. Uh, once again, I'm Dan McInerney bringing you lessons from the Helpful Dead. In our next episode, we'll be talking about the famous time traveler, Joe McMonagle.
